The Nottingham Lions welcome an ever-improving Blackburn Eagles side to the National Ice Centre this Sunday (7.30pm), as they look to bounce back from the unfamiliar position of having suffered two consecutive defeats.

Slawomir Kasprzak fires home his debut Lions goal against the Eagles back in September.

The Lions hopes of remaining league champions were dented after recent narrow losses to title-rivals Deeside and Coventry respectively, leaving them fourth in the table, five points adrift of the table-topping Dragons.

The Eagles have struggled for points in recent years but they have improved massively as the current season has progressed, culminating in a morale-boosting victory 6-4 victory over Widnes Wild last month.

Despite recent losses to Coventry and Sheffield, Blackburn’s results still suggest that Nottingham cannot rest on their laurels, especially when a number of key players and coaching staff are currently away on GB duty at the World University Winter Games in Italy.

Defensemen Jack Baveystock, James Francis-Barrie and Cameron Good along with forwards Stephen Breisner and Christy Johnson-Brown are all absent along with Head Coach Matt Bradbury and Assistant Simon Hopkins.

Assistant Coach Paul Glossop takes over the reins this Sunday and other than his missing student contingent, he will hope to have a full roster at his disposal, for what promises to be a Christmas cracker in the Lions’ den.

The Lions home game experience represents great value for money – ticket prices start from just £2.50 and with the Panthers’ game finishing just before the Lions’ face off, there really is no better time to come down and help roar the boys on to victory.
