The Lions’ battle to avoid the relegation play-off spot in the ENL Division 1 North continues this Sunday (11th March) as they prepare to take on the Blackburn Hawks at the National Ice Centre (7.15pm face-off).
The Hawks are the only side remaining in the league that the Lions have yet to take points from, having lost both encounters in Lancashire, earlier in the season.
Since the beginning of February, the Hawks had been on a unbeaten run of eleven games, taking them up to third in the table. However, their streak was brought to a halt on Sunday, by the Telford Titans who came away from Blackburn Ice Arena with a 4-3 victory.
Nottingham are still locked in a battle with Coventry to avoid 8th place in the league, with both sides on 21 points. The Blaze have the bonus of a game in hand whilst the Lions know if they finish level on points with their Midlands’ rivals, they will have the head-to-head advantage having scored more goals over the two sides’ four games.
Jack Hall is a doubt for the Lions after picking up a knock in last Saturday’s win at Trafford whilst Chris Colegate remains on the treatment table with a injury which has kept him sidelined since before Christmas.
With just two, vital games remaining for the Lions, and the Hawks still within reach of first place – this game has all the makings of a cracker.
