The Nottingham Lions face their first double header of the new NIHL Laidler D2 season this weekend, firstly travelling to face Bradford Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon (4.45pm) before returning to the National Ice Centre on Sunday, for their first home game of the campaign against Sheffield Senators (7.30pm).
Slawomir Kasprzak taking on the Senators at the NIC, last season.
The Lions will still be smarting from their suprise away defeat to Blackburn last Saturday and will be looking to get their season back on track, with the offer of a four-point haul over the two days.
The West-Yorkshiremen will be somewhat of an unknown quantity for Matt Bradbury's side, after returning to senor hockey following a two-season break and the new-look Bulldogs will no doubt be eager to get off to a positive start in front of their home fans, at Bradford Ice Arena.
The two teams last met back in 2007/08, with Nottingham going on to win the ENIHL North league championship that season, whilst Bradford finished third from bottom just above Lancashire and Grimsby.
Sunday evening sees the long-awaited return of the Lions to the NIC ice pad, after a long summer, which was once again, full of comings and goings inside the pride's locker room.
Local-rivals Sheffield are the visitors, in what should be a tenatious and entertaining encounter and the Senators have notcibly improved their roster from last season, which saw Nottingham take the four game series by 3 wins to 1, including an impressive 7-2 victory at Ice Sheffield back in November.
The Lions will be hoping to bolster their line-up with the return of Ben Wood, Ben Foster-Wilson, Sam Illsley and Reece Glossop, who all missed out on last weekend's season opener.
