Another four points are on offer this weekend for the Nottingham Lions, as they face two very different opponents, on Saturday they travel to Bradford Ice Arena (4.45pm) to face the winless Bulldogs, whilst on Sunday, the Telford Tigers will be entertained at the National Ice Centre (7.30pm), as the Shropshire-based outfit continue their quest for promotion.
Action from the Lions' 17-3 thumping of the Bulldogs, at the NIC last month.
The Lions will no doubt, be aiming to build upon their recent 17 goal demolition of Bradford and 14 goal destruction over Hull, results which ensure the team heads into this weekend's contests with plenty of wind in their sails.
Double-header weekends require a lot of energy and as such, Matt Bradbury will be hoping that captain Luke Thomas can retake the helm and that both Dan Hazeldine and Reece Glossop are available for duty, after injury induced absences. All three are big contributors to the team in different ways and have been sorely missed.
The Lions’ pride enter the first match-up as firm favourites, as they face the Bulldogs, a team that just a few weeks ago were clinically demolished by Nottingham at the NIC. It would be foolhardy to enter the fray expecting a win but Bradford will have to put in a special performance to gain their first two points of the season. Since visiting the Lions a few weeks ago, they were handed a 17-1 beating by the Solihull Barons, which also may have severely sapped their confidence and spirit.
On Sunday, Bradbury’s team face a very different opponent, the Telford Tigers. A string of decisive victories will have buoyed an already confident Tigers, who are sitting pretty in the Laidler D2’s third position. So far this season there has been just one encounter between these teams, the Tigers took the points from that game with a 3-0 win, though it has to be said the game was closer than the scoreline suggests. With a foundation of solid victories, Nottingham could turn the tables this time around and whip the two points from under the Tigers' noses.
So come down to the NIC this Sunday and help give the Lions a boost from the stands, in their home match up against the Tigers. Ticket details are available by clicking here.
