The Nottingham Lions are pleased to announce the capture of defenceman Conor Gordon, for the forthcoming NIHL Lailder D2 campaign.
Lions GM Danny Harrison with Conor Gordon.
The 17 year-old will be a welcome, fresh face on the blue line at the National Ice Centre, having previously played with the Telford Titans last season, in the Moralee Conference.
The Telford junior system product will also add youth to an experienced defensive core that will be able to help the youngster find his feet within the team.
Speaking to nottinghamlions.co.uk, the dedicated stay-at-home D-man explained his reasons for signing with the Lions’ pride:
"I’d heard positive things from various people about the Lions, so I paid a visit and was made to feel very welcome and as I was ready for a change , I decided it was the right decision to sign with the club."
He continued: "The biggest difference will be playing at a different rink after playing in Telford for the last six years but I'm sure I'll adapt in no time - I’m ready to give everything I've got for the season and see where it takes me and see what we can accomplish as team."
Head coach Matt Bradbury shared his thoughts on the new boy in the locker room, and said:
"Conor comes to us with a good skill set and the desire to play the game with passion and he wears his heart on his sleeve, which is important."
"He's also another player that will look after his team mates but I know he's got lots of other attributes to offer too and I know the coaching team and our style of play will bring out the best in him." added Bradbury.
Conor looks set to make his debut, when the Lions are hosted by the Blackburn Eagles on the 6th September at 5:45pm in their opening 2014/15 fixture, whilst his home debut is set to be a classic, when he will take to the ice against local and division rivals Sheffield Senators, on Sunday 14th September at 7:30pm.
