The Nottingham Lions travel to face their Midlands rivals Coventry Blaze on Saturday evening (5pm fo), looking to pick up two valuable points, in what has so far, been a stuttering start to their 2014/15 NIHL Laidler D2 campaign.

Nottingham have only picked-up two points from a possible eight so far this season but there is certainly no sign of panic in the NIC locker room, after some promising performances from a large number of Under-18s, particularly during last Saturday's 7-2 victory in Bradford and the unfortunate 5-4 home defeat to Sheffield the following day.

However, the Skydome was an unhappy hunting ground for Matt Bradbury's men last season, with the Lions finding themselves on the end of two defeats - an uncharacteristic 7-1 thumping back in September 2013 and February's narrow 3-2 defeat should give Nottingham even more ammunition to work for the points this time around.

Coventry will no doubt be eager to get off the mark, after last weekend's opening defeat in Hull and to make the derby clash even more mouth-watering, the new-look Blaze squad also contains four ex-Lions, with Gareth O'Flaherty, Rob Perks, Joseph Steeples and Conor McNaughton all now icing for the West Midlands outfit.

The Lions will be hoping that Slawomir Kasprzak, Ben Wood, Lee Holland and Sam Illsley will be in contention for a return to the line-up, after they all missed out on Sunday's home defeat, whilst last season's Blaze captain Adam Andrews looks likely to face his old team after making his Nottingham debut last weekend.
