The Nottingham Lions have announced two more special guests that are joining the Lions for their charity challenge match against Great Britain Under-20s tonight, at the National Ice Centre and they're more products of the Nottingham Junior system.
Former Lions Danny Rose and Callum Bowley are to pull on the black and gold for the evenings proceedings.
The duo currently play for EPL side Telford Tigers and have both previously represented at GB level.
Nottingham-born defenceman Rose still only 21 years old has iced for the past three seasons (currently in his 4th) with the Telford Tigers having played all his hockey years with Nottingham prior to that (photo below shows Danny playing for Lions in 2012).
Bowley was involved with the successful Nottingham Junior programme from 2006-2011. In 2010/11 he amassed 85 pts from 13 games (35+50). Between 2009-2011 he played 38 times for the Lions scoring 39 pts (21+18) during this time. As well as dressing with the Panthers a couple of times he has played 200 times for Telford Tigers in the EPL.
Head Coach Matt explained "We are very grateful to Danny and Bowls for helping us out, their experience will give us more strength and depth and I look forward to seeing how they have developed over the past few years, it's great to see how all these ex players have gone on to progress their hockey careers and hope that they add some inspiration to current players and the young Nottingham juniors watching from the stands."
"We were looking to bring former Lions and Panthers player Marcus Maynard currently with Telford Tigers but unfortunately we were informed that he has picked up an injury and is unable to ice - we of course wish Marcus a speedy recovery."
Tonight's tickets are priced at just £3 and can be purchased from the NIC box office, all proceeds go to the Lions' charity partner Special Olympics Nottinghamshire. Face off is 7.30pm.
