The Nottingham Lions are delighted to announce the return of defenseman Ben Foster-Wilson to their roster, for the remainder of the 2013/14 Laidler Conference season.
The twenty-six year-old, imposing former Nottingham junior, made twenty-four appearances for the Lions between 2005 and 2008 before moving on to play for Sutton Sting and Sheffield Scimitars between 2009 and 2011.
Since then, Ben has had some time out of the game, to focus on his family and concentrate on his studies but speaking to nottinghamlions.co.uk this week, it seems he cannot wait to get back into the game he loves; saying,
"I know it's going to be fun being back in Notts, working with a lot of people I know and respect. I'm just really pleased to be offered this chance again, do a job if needed and just enjoy it with my team."
The 6'1" 322lb D-man also has few worries about joining the team in the middle of the season; adding,
"I've never been the fastest or most skilful player but I can look after myself, I go to the gym daily and with some added hard training, I'm sure I will be able to become an even more effective player and help the team to try and finish as high as possible."
Lions Head Coach Matt Bradbury was also clearly pleased to welcome Ben back to the National Ice Centre; saying,
"Ben is a welcome addition to the team at this point of the season, he's a big strong guy to get in front of the net on special teams and he will also be a useful asset on the point as he has a quick release cannon of a shot."
"After a year out he’s got to regain his match sharpness but I know he’s looking forward to being part of the team. It’s great that Ben’s back in Nottingham where he should be, he’s never really been given an opportunity and I know that he will be keen to prove his doubters wrong."
Ben will wear the #88 jersey and should be in contention to make his second career Lions debut against Widnes Wild at Silverblades Ice Rink, this Sunday (26th January).
