The Nottingham Leopards have a huge game at the National Ice Centre this Sunday evening and the Lions are urging as many supporters as possible to come along and help cheer on the promising youngsters to an important victory.
The Leopards are the Under-18s (Division 1 North) team of the Nottingham Ice Hockey Club and currently lie in first position in their division. On Sunday evening, they face second-placed Whitley Bay Braves, in a fixture which will have a huge say on who will finish as league champions, come the end of March.
The Leopards currently sit five points clear of their North-East based rivals but Whitley Bay have the advantage of two games in hand over Nottingham
If the Leopards can triumph at the weekend, their fate will remain in their own hands, then having to win two out of their remaining three league games, to become champions.
Suffer a defeat on Sunday and Nottingham will then be relying on another team to do them a favour by taking points off Whitley Bay, in one of their final five games, whilst also having to make sure they win their last three fixtures.
There will be a number of familiar faces in the Leopards’ line-up, as a number of the team have already made their Lions debuts this season.
The Lions have a lunchtime face-off in Ice Sheffield against the Senators on the same day (1.30pm), which leaves plenty of time to head back to the NIC to roar on the Leopards!!
With so much at stake, this is an encounter not to be missed. Admission to the game is free and face off is at 7.15pm.
