A big weekend saw the Lions turn over the Deeside Dragons convincingly in their own rink Saturday night 7-2 and then returned the following night to play a fresh Altrincham Aces side at the National Ice Centre coming away with a 6-3 home win.

"We battled hard all weekend and were rewarded with the 4 points which was fully deserved - it will be nice to have a few days off for the players before we go back to the mill at training on Thursday night."

"What particularly pleased me Sunday night was the character of the 5 under 18's players that played regular ice for us.  They played Saturday versus Deeside then played three periods of hockey versus Whitley 18's at home and then stepped straight back onto the ice to play three periods of senior hockey and that must be applauded."

"We released a couple of our key under 20's players (Hamish and Gretton) to play in Solihull which put us under more pressure - but it appears the more pressure this team is put under the stronger they come back."

"We are so lucky that everyone is pulling in the right direction both on and off the ice.  However we are very well aware that we are not to get too carried away.  If i'm honest I didn't expect us to be in this position so early in the season, but it feels good for everyone involved within the organisation."
