The Nottingham Lions would like to thank MTC (Maintenance Trade & Construction) for their support, as one of the team's partners for the 2014/15 season.

Covering all of the East Midlands and South Wales, MTC offer a huge range of different services, from all aspects of carpentry, to landscape gardening and general maintenance.

The company's owner is actually the Lions' back-up netminder Martin Chalke and the 26 year-old Welshman has over 10 years of experience as a qualified carpenter, along with a background in reactive maintenance, landscaping and commercial site work.

Speaking to this week, the custodian recalled jumping at the chance to partner the team, when approached by Lions GM Danny Harrison during the summer, saying:

"Our new company formed just over three years ago and I've recently brought my first home with my girlfriend here in Nottingham, so it seemed to be the perfect time to promote the company and what better way to do so than in sponsoring the Lions this season!"

Since signing-up at the National Ice Centre at the start of the 2013/14 season, the Cardiff-born goalie has settled into the Nottingham dressing room well and has proven himself as real team player.

This was no more evident than last Sunday, when Martin, who was already halfway to Wales on his way to visit family, took a call asking if he could back-up against the Senators in Sheffield that afternoon, due to Tom Hovell receiving a last minute call-up by the Nottingham Panthers. Not one to let his teammates down, 'Chalky' turned his car around, picked-up his kit and made it to Ice Sheffield in time for face off.

In the dressing room after the game, Chalke then received a round of applause from his teammates and a special mention of thanks from head coach Matt Bradbury.

Also speaking to this week, the Lions' GM Harrison, went on to add:

"Obviously, it's great to have MTC on board this season, every partner really matters here at the Lions and every penny really does help with what we are trying to achieve - if Martin puts the same amount of passion and commitment into his work, as he does with his hockey, and I'm sure he does!, then I can't recommend MTC highly enough!"
