The Nottingham Lions are delighted to announce the return of netminder Alan Levers to the club.

Alan has spent most of his senior career with the Lions, appearing at the National Ice Centre over ten seasons in total, between 1999 and 2012.

However, the 28 year-old custodian spent much of last season on the sidelines due to injury, featuring in just 9 games before moving on to local rivals Sutton Sting in the summer.

Having started in 9 games for the Sting in Division 1 North this season, unforeseen work commitments in his role at the National Ice Centre meant he was unable to commit to the Sheffield-based side for the remainder of the season.

Knowing the door was always open for a return to the Lions, the former GB Under 18 and Under 20 international was able to slot right into Matt Bradbury’s squad after the Lions’ regular netminder Sam Gospel was laid-up with an injury last week.

Bradbury was clearly pleased to see the return of Alan, saying,

“It’s great to welcome Alan back under the circumstances and as ever Alan has conducted himself liked true professional – when someone of his quality becomes available you can’t turn your nose up to it.”

“We are really looking forward to seeing him back in black and gold and he will really help us at this crucial stage of the campaign.”
