The Nottingham Lions are delighted to welcome netminders Dan Green and Sam Gospel to their 2012/13 roster.
The pair join the Lions’ Pride on a two-way deal with the Nottingham Panthers, which will see at least one of the goalies being available for selection by Matt Bradbury’s side whilst the other will be on Elite League duties, backing up Panthers’ first choice netminder Craig Kowalski.
17 year-old Gospel is a product of the Nottingham Ice Hockey Club junior set-up, whilst 29 year-old Green, has also iced for Basingstoke Bison and Sheffield Steelers during his career.
Lions head coach, Bradbury was pleased with the deal, saying;
“It’s great to have Dan and Sam here for the 2012/13 season – this has come to fruition via consultation with the Panthers.”
“Dan Green comes with a wealth of experience, he’s a big goalie and I’m sure he will bring positivity, proffesionalism and stability to the team.”
“It’s a wonderful opportunity for Sam, who’s a local lad and has come all the way through the junior set-up here.”
“Sam played in some important games for us last season including the 3-2 win at Telford and the 6-4 victory at the Spartans.”
“This is the way forward with the Lions and the Nottingham junior organisation – We are here to develop the kids and the Panthers are the finishing school.”
