The Nottingham Lions host local-rivals Solihull Barons, in their first home fixture of the new Laidler Conference campaign at the National Ice Centre this Sunday (7.30pm face off).

Matt Bradbury’s side are almost at full strength for this much anticipated clash, with former NHL D-Man Chris Allen looking set to make his Lions debut against the team he captained last term. Alongside him are ex-Barons trio; Neil Adams, Rob Perks and Connor McNaughton who will all make their Nottingham home debuts against their former club.

Reece Glossop is still missing through suspension, whilst one forward from Luke Branin and Slawomir Kasprzkak must miss out due to EIHA import rules.

Solihull are many people’s favourites for the league title this time around and are sure to be formidable opponents, although Nottingham will be hoping that the Barons will still be feeling the burn from their trip to West Midlands rivals Coventry Blaze the previous night.

Both sides will be looking to build on impressive, season-opening victories against Blackburn Eagles last weekend. Saturday saw a 9-1 win for the Lions in Lancashire, followed by a 15-2 home-rout for the Barons the next day.

Nottingham came out victorious during both encounters with Solihull at the NIC last season, claiming an emphatic 8-3 win back in January before picking up the Division Two North trophy in style after a 6-2 decision in March.
