The Solihull Barons are the visitors to the National Ice Centre this Sunday (7.15pm face off) as the high-flying Nottingham Lions look to maintain their three point lead at the top of the table, in this much-anticipated Midlands-derby clash.
The Lions have games in hand over all three of their promotion rivals, including the Barons, who sit on 21 points along with Deeside and Sheffield. However, the Lions know they will have to be at their best against a Barons side containing ex-Florida Panther Chris Allen and former Panthers defenseman Perry Doyle.
In the two teams’ only previous meeting this season, Matt Bradbury’s men came out on top with a narrow 2-1 win at Hobs Moat Road back in December. Goals from Luke Branin and Gareth O’Flaherty cancelled out an early Jake Larkin strike to give the Lions the two points.
Nottingham welcome back Simon Hunt and Matt Greaves to their line-up, who both missed last Sunday’s 4-2 win at Deeside, whilst Alan Levers will hope to continue his fine form in goal after his Man of the Match winning performance against the Dragons.
So get down to the NIC this Sunday evening to roar on the boys and make sure you arrive early as a bumper crowd is expected.
