The Lions will be looking to get back to winning ways as they entertain local rivals the Coventry Blaze at the National Ice Centre tonight.

Coventry Blaze are in that unenviable position being the basement club at the moment, but in saying that they have of late improved having pushed several of the more dominant teams in the Laidler Conference pretty close. Always a hard working team - tight finishes against Deeside Dragons 3-5, Altrincham Aces 5-4, Blackburn Eagles 3-5, and Nottingham Lions 1-3.

Coventry will give the Lions a very good work out as they attempt to pull a few winning games together and climb the table and the Lions will need to be definitely on their guard and focused to ensure a positive result.

At Altrincham Aces last Sunday the Lions came up against a team who appear to have turned a bit of a corner claiming their first four point weekend of the season. Although going down 5-1 the Lions kept at the task for the whole game with a good workrate and when you look at the stats the Aces had 42 shots on goal to the Lions 40 shots so it really was down to making the shots count. Tom Hovell in the Lions nets had a solid game as did the remainder of the team. Some valuable experience for a number of new guys with more to come as a number of youngsters look to making their mark as part of the Lions squad in the very near future.

Panthers are at home earlier in the evening but any supporters requiring a bit more hockey will be very welcome over at the Lions v Coventry game - face off at the National Ice Centre Olympic Rink is 7.30pm.
